COLOUR CONVERSATIONS
These large-scale paintings represent a significant shift in my practice, embracing a new freedom of expression. They delve into the subtle, often contrasting relationships between colours and the emotions they evoke.
Originally sparked by my Colourful Language series, where I named and experimented with different shades, these works have now taken on a life of their own - an exploration in which colour leads the way.
I like to think of these paintings as created by my soul rather than my mind. While the initial color palettes and compositions are semi-planned, much of the process is intuitive. I allow the pigments to guide me as I soak, burnish, and wipe away layers of paint. This method reveals the luminosity of the canvas beneath, while the remaining pigments create a soft, resonant hum of colour.
