A tangle of blooms, a snippet of blue sky, a shard of strong sunlight or the brief relationship between a favourite mug and a collection of fresh garden pickings.
Botanical nature is the language I use most but as a metaphor for the passing of time. I am interested in capturing those moments of peace when we feel connected with the things around us and pause to appreciate them.
Most recently I have begun exploring the way I visualise time. These abstract compositions depict the year as a series of shapes and colours each signifying chunks of time or important events past and present.
I play with colour, composition, media and marks to spark a recall of sensation such as joy, contemplation or melancholy. The aim is to find the comfort of warm memories.
